Rheinisches Landestheater

What is a Landestheater? The German theater scene is unique in the world. In order to preserve their density, their diversity and their artistic charisma, they wanted to declare them a World Heritage Site. 35 million visitors of all ages see almost 110,000 theatrical performances and 7,000 concerts each year. In addition to 150 state-subsidized theaters and 280 private theaters, there are more than 150 venues without a permanent ensemble. These houses have fully functional "hardware" (light, sound, technology, etc.) - but the "software" (actors, assistants, technicians, etc.) they have to buy. This is where the Landestheater comes into play.   Landestheater fulfill a double function - on the one hand they play their own house in their city, on the other hand they visit in cities and communities that do not have their own ensemble. Behind this is the claim of wanting to perform artistically high-level productions at reasonable prices in regions outside the metropolitan areas.

The Rhenish Landestheater brings stagings to places throughout NRW, occasionally outside the country's borders. For example, there are always guest appearances in Austria, Switzerland and even Luxembourg. The actors play the pieces staged in Neuss on the most varied stages: from the school hall to the open-air stage. Artistically, this requires a high degree of flexibility. No evening is like the other - stage conditions like public change constantly - routine can not arise there.
