Tanssiteatteri Tsuumi / Tsuumi Dance Theatre

The dance theater Tsuumi is a Helsinki-based Dance Theater, which is strongly rooted in folklore, and absorbs its power from archaic rhizomes and draws inspiration from the surrounding world. The dance theater Tsuumi makes a versatile performance with the emphasis on the synthesis of dance and music, movement and rhythm. As a special part of Tsuum's activities, there has always been a strong collaboration with Finnish new folk music makers.

The base of Tsuum is in Finnishness, tradition and knowledge of our history. However, there is always the idea of new and living artistic work and experimentation. In various forms, this concept has been realized in some fifty years of dance and theater.

During its fifteen years of operation, the dance theater Tsuumi has made its own productions and has been able to work with innovative and high-quality partners. Interaction with other groups and organizations has opened up new perspectives on forms of stage art and collaboration. Over the course of its history, the dance theater Tsuumi has performed more than 50 performances on stage alone or in collaboration with other organizations. Tsuumi produces 2-3 premieres annually and participates in collaborative productions with major Finnish theaters. The performance is based on premieres, new performances of old works and tours.

Tsuum is the administrative and production organization of the dance theater Tsuum.
