Continuing my “3-day itinerary” series, I am now back with this page to suggest a new route during which you’ll have the chance to explore some of the most beautiful Ionian islands!

Let’s now suppose that this time you’re landing in the beautiful island of Corfu, and you’re looking for an alternative kind of holiday where you can explore amazing locations out of the beaten track. Well, let’s also say that you’ve got some time, you have saved some money and a strong motivation to travel around the Ionian Sea, urges you to do a small and quick research on the places offered for a unique cruise experience. Where would you go and what islands would you visit?

In the itinerary that follows, I’ve prepared a few suggestions that would definitely steal your heart, whether you’re travelling to Greece during winter or summer! Well, in this case travelling during summer is strongly recommended! Let’s start!

Day 1. Corfu

Alright, it’s about time to present one of my favourite islands in Greece and one of the most desired summer destinations worldwide. With clean green-blue water and surrounded by lush greenery, beaches in Corfu attract many visitors every summer. Known as one of the most cosmopolitan islands of Greece, Corfu is located on the northern side of the Ionian sea. It charms its visitors with its Venetian style architecture, (that brings in mind Venice and Florence), its lovely beaches and of course its general relaxing feeling. The historical and religious monuments, the picturesque villages, the beautiful nature and the hospitality of the locals offer memories difficult to forget.

Day 2. From Corfu to Paxos and Antipaxos

The islands of Paxos and Antipaxos, which are situated, close to the southern coast of Corfu, are definitely recommended for a day-trip that will steal your heart! Famous for their blue caves, Paxos and Antipaxos are only a few minutes away from the mainland of Corfu. Departing from the harbour of Corfu, you’ll enjoy the unique view of the old town while crossing the two Venetian fortresses.

Later on, during the high season, there are frequent sea taxi departures from Gaios port on Paxos to Antipaxos, and vice-versa. The journey takes only about 15 minutes. The clear blue waters will leave you speechless while the sandy blue coves will bring you in mind Caribbean beaches. While at the islands, small traditional villages, old mansions, water tanks built by the Venetians, churches and stone walls cause awe and admiration.

Day 3. From Corfu (or from Paxos) to Lefkada

As a big fan of the Ionian Sea and of its blue and cold-refreshing waters, I feel that it’s my responsibility to suggest this dreamy destination and its magic beaches. Catching a ferry from Corfu is probably the fastest way to get to the impressive island of Lefkada (unless you’re coming from the mainland; in this case through a small bridge, Lefkada can actually be accessed by car!). Considered as the Caribbean of Greece, Lefkada island amazes visitors with its beauty! This is the perfect place for families, couples and large groups of friends, since it offers a variety of activities and breathtaking landscapes that shouldn’t be missed!

Ready to explore them all? More tips and your “Ionian 3- day itinerary part 2” are about to be revealed soon! All you have to do is just stay tuned on our page! Cheers!
