One of the most famous frescos of the Renaissance realized by the Florentine Masolino da Panicale: This is the treasure kept by the Collegiate adjoining Baptistery of Castiglione Olona, ​​in turn, frescoed by Masolino, with the collaboration of the Sienese artist Lorenzo di Pietro said Vecchietta and the Florentine Paolo Schiavo. The complex, built on the ruins of a medieval castle, was built by Cardinal Branda Castiglioni, who at the beginning of the fifteenth century made Castiglione Olona, ​​according to the famous definition of D'Annunzio, "the island of Tuscany in Lombardy", transforming the village in an early example of an ideal city according to the Renaissance model.
