Since its inception in October 2009, the sweetSixteen cinema has been run by a small group of film enthusiasts as a non-profit association. We stand for freedom and independence in our cinema programming, a variety of films, a focus on independent productions and non-commercial film projects, the preservation of the cultural city of cinema and the analogue film cultural heritage. For us, the focus is not on the profit-oriented exploitation of a film, but on the distribution of film culture - in short: committed Cinema in the Dortmund Nordstadt.
Special features in the sweetSixteen cinema:
The name sweetSixteen refers to the film format used for earlier projections, the 16mm narrow film - accordingly, the sweetSixteen cinema can still show 16mm films (bpsw at the 16mm film club), but of course all other popular analog and digital cinema formats.
Admission to normal feature length 7 euros. Reductions for students, apprentices, pensioners, people with disabilities, unemployed, etc .: 6 Euro. For feature films with extra length each plus one euro. Children up to 12 years: 4 Euro. Special events excluded.
