Reorganized into a theater in 1842 by order of a princely riding-school, the theater in the castle garden went through many ups and downs over the years and was even threatened with closures.
Partly equipped with its own ensemble, but mostly recorded by other theaters, it has become a constant in the cultural life of the Ilm district. It was reopened in 1995 after extensive refurbishment and restoration and has since then offered a varied, varied and interesting range of events that arouse visitors' curiosity and provide entertaining, stimulating and enjoyable hours.
