The Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy was established with the aim of collecting, storing, processing and presenting Croatian medical and pharmaceutical heritage, and has started work since March 2015. The Initial Fundus of the Museum is the Collection for the History of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Section for the History of Medical Sciences. The collection is mostly made up of donations, and includes about 2000 different items, about 6,000 books, 50 photo boxes and many legacies. The Museum's work is aligned with the core tasks and program of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, in particular the Department of the History of Medical Sciences. The Museum's mission is to document and promote Croatian biomedical sciences and practices in the national, European and world context, on the basis of material and immaterial heritage, in cooperation with Croatian medical and pharmaceutical institutions and companies. The Croatian Museum of Medicine and Pharmacy is unique in Croatia, because our medical and pharmaceutical heritage has only recently been presented in a fragmentary or occasional exhibition.
