The public park of Stefan cel Mare (Grădina Publică "Ştefan cel Mare", sometimes called as Pushkin Park) is the oldest park in Moldova, situated in the center of the capital Chisinau. It was built in 1818, by the initiative of the governor A. Bekhmetyev's wife. During his exile, Pushkin liked to relax in this park. Additionally, this park is a piece of landscape art, and is considered to be the most well-kept park in Chisinau. It was reconstructed several times. The park is protected by the state for its greenery and cultural heritage.
