The name “strand” derives from a German word that means - beach. The background of this can be found in the past, as Novi Sad was once an important province of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The beach was officially opened in 1911, but it was popular among the locals for many years before that. Today, it is an iconic place where the locals gather in the summer to hang out, walk, swim, and enjoy the gentle summer days in their hometown.
The beach is equipped with a playground so that the families can enjoy the time with their youngsters. There are several bars with sunbeds, tables, where the visitors can sip their cocktails, fresh orange juice, or ice-cream, whatever may be their favorite cooling source in the summer.
