If you’re spending some days around the Costa Brava, the magical beach town Sitges is absolutely mandatory to visit! A daytrip to Sitges will give you relaxation while the lovely Spanish architecture and small alleys likewise the beautiful church right at the coast will add some romantic vibes. I can guarantee: This picturesque place will make you fall in love with it and want to come back!

The town

In contrast to the globally (and rightly so) hyped city of Barcelona, Sitges remains as the small beach town that young tourists and backpackers usually don’t even think about visiting. But believe me: It’s an absolute gem and insider tip! The typical Spanish buildings, narrow alleys with cute shops and cafés distribute to the unique character of this place. You can spend some hours strolling through the little streets in the shades of the buildings, drinking a cava or cerveza at one of the bars or simply walk alongside the seafront, up to the lovely church, built on rocks, with a stunning view on the sea.

The beaches

Another reason to visit Sitges is a sunbath at one of the many beaches all along the town. The smallest and probably most famous one is the Platja San Sebastian – a little bay behind the church. If you’re rather searching for a less crowded spot, you might as well go further away from the church, all the way down south. There you’ll also find some nice Chiringuitos (local Beach Bars) and beach loungers to rent. My advice though is to do a hike through the rocky area in the very south of Sitges, behind the golf club, where you’ll come across beaches, bays and lagoons that will make you feel like on a lonely and exotic island!

The food

The cherry on the cake of your daytrip in Sitges will definitely be the culinary experience. Sitges is full with amazing restaurants, where not only seafood lovers can enjoy a fresh paella, but also vegans and vegetarians will be surprised by the big offer of plant based food! One of my absolute favourite restaurants in this cute beach town is Lady Green – a vegetarian place where you’ll surely enjoy one of the best vegan cheeseburgers you’ll ever eat!
