Industrialized, suburban, and up and coming. Amsterdam Noord (North in Dutch) has the upbringing that is unique to the rest of Amsterdam. Three centuries ago Amsterdam Noord was home to a majority of craftsmen, merchants, shipbuilders. However, the overpopulation in Amsterdam during the 20th century led to more people moving across the river and developing the area to what it is today. Even though this district feels "separated" from the rest of the city, it is a hub for creative spaces, local pubs, bars and clubbing!

Garage Noord
Garage Noord is an Intimate and underground venue in the North of Amsterdam, just a step behind Central Station. This up and coming location has an agenda full of musical discoveries on the electronic music spectrum. Recurring local talents who have performed at Garage Noord include: Young Marco, Izabel and Interstellar Funk. The venue also prepares amazing food (small bites, burgers, .. ) and Kombucha cocktails. Memorable location, friendly crew!

Shelter
Just hop across the river, you’ll find Shelter – a 24/7 nightclub to satisfy your clubbing craze. It is one of the newest kids on the block and has gained a reputation as one of the best clubs in Amsterdam. Shelter's fine line-up curation is on the harder genres of electronic-music (especially techno). When the club first opened its doors in 2016, it obtained a rare 24-hour permit from the municipality of Amsterdam. You know what that means - non-stop music and partying! Located in the basement of Amsterdam Toren tower, just behind the Central Station across the River Ij, the venue makes for one of the best clubbing experience in town! NDSM Werf │ Noorderlicht Café
Located on NDSM plein, Café Noorderlicht (Northern Lights Cafe) is a Tibetan prayer flag-draped greenhouse with an outside garden with a VIEW! All year round this little bar gem proposes a musical programmation full of concerts, music jams, creative days and festivals. I also featured Noorderlicht Café in my article about Amsterdam's 5 Best Waterside Bars. which also features another Amsterdam North favourite, Pllek. In the same looks and feels as Noorderlicht Café, I also recommend Café de Ceuvel which offers the perfect sun-bathing rehab spot after a rough night out.
PartyWith's favourite party: Berlin clubbing legend 'Salon - Zur Wilden Renate' teamed up with Festifest at Noorderlicht Café last years for Amsterdam's smallest summer festival. 1 podium, 500 tickets. Intimate.

Tolhuistuin - Paradiso Noord
A counter-venue to the Paradiso club in Leidseplein, this venue’s spacious dance hall accommodates up to 550 people. Partygoers can mingle in the various small rooms and the exhibition halls, while also enjoying the waterside terrace. Open to the public, it is considered the cultural mecca for all types of art and has established itself as a community hub in North Amsterdam.
