History

Firstly, the Braslav Lakes Recreation Center was opened in 1958. In the 19th century, local aristocrats had their summer houses in this territory. Braslav Lakes National Park was established in 1995, and it is located 250 km away from Minsk. It is spread over 70 thousand hectares that unite different kinds of lakes. The main aim of creating the national park was to protect the natural landscape and keep flora and fauna safe. The government of Belarus also wanted to make this place attractive to tourists and create healthy conditions for locals. Nowadays, the park is a unique site where you can see wild and primeval nature.

Braslav Lakes today 

The administration of the park is located between the lakes of Drivyaty and Novyato. The largest lakes are Drivyaty, Strusta, and Snudy. The shapes of the lakes are extraordinary, and they create many picturesque semi-islands. The ancient glacier left beautiful stones of different sizes on this place. There are around 30 species of fish, more than 200 of birds and many other sorts of animals in Braslav. Visitors can also see the historical and traditional buildings and churches from the 19th-20th centuries on this territory. 

Activities

Visiting Braslav Lakes National Park is already a guarantee that you will have many pleasant emotions. Apart from making great pictures and enjoying nature, you can also go fishing in the park. Each fisherman is allowed to catch around five kilograms of fish per day. If you love hunting and you have a special license, you can also hunt different kinds of animals such as deers, boars, wolves, etc. It is a great place to relax with family or friends. Different recreation centers are created on the Braslav Lakes, where you can find accommodation. The administration of the park offers several interesting tours that are fun to do for tourists.
